The Kansas Center for Metabolism and Obesity Research (KC-MORE), based at KU Medical Center, is a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) supported by the National Institutes of Health. A five-year, $12 million grant will help the center build on KU's long history of research achievements in the areas of nutrition, obesity, metabolism, diabetes and fatty liver disease. KC-MORE brings together existing research programs, new state-of-the-art scientific core facilities, pilot funding for junior faculty and training opportunities to develop new approaches to the prevention and treatment of obesity and the reduction of obesity-related disease

"KC-MORE will unite the obesity research and clinical community by providing infrastructure for obesity research and training opportunities for junior faculty. Most importantly, KC-MORE will provide the energy and structure to recruit additional promising young and established obesity investigators to join the effort to prevent and treat obesity and associated co-morbid conditions."
