PKD Tissue Donations

family

PKD kidneys retrieved at the time of surgery are invaluable research tools. Studies using these specimens have contributed to significant breakthroughs in PKD research and have advanced our understanding of disease.

If you are scheduled to have a PKD kidney(s) removed, we hope you will consider donating it for research. The polycystic kidney retrieval program at the PKD Foundation provides patients an opportunity to help scientists work towards an effective treatment to slow disease progression. By donating your discarded PKD kidney(s) for research, you are personally making a difference.

Kidney donation

If you are scheduled to have a nephrectomy (kidney removal) and would like to have your kidney(s) donated to PKD research, first discuss this with your doctor and then contact the PKD Foundation (1-800-753-2873) at least 10 business days before the surgery.

For more information on tissue donations, please visit the PKD Foundation website : www.pkdcure.org.
