Current Fellows & Graduates
Autumn Brubaker, DO - Geriatric Fellow 2022-2023
Dr. Brubaker completed medical school at Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She joined our Geriatrics Fellowship following the completion of her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Why Geriatrics: I find joy in working with the older adult population and appreciate the complexities of caring for this patient population and navigating the changing care goals as my patients transition through different stages of their life. My grandmother was a very influential part of why I chose geriatrics for a multitude of reasons. She taught me the importance of keeping the patient at the center of all healthcare decisions and, through my care of her in her final months, the importance of supporting caregivers throughout each transition of care.
Thoughts for future practice: I feel that my practice preferences will likely evolve as I gain more experience and exposure during my fellowship. Right now I see myself in the outpatient setting either in a primary care role or in a consultative geriatrics role. I am excited to see where this journey takes me!
Family: I am married and have two children.
Hobbies/Interests: I love anything artistic, lately it has been either drawing or acrylic painting. My family and I love to travel and explore new places.
Anthony Jackson, MD - Geriatric Fellow 2022-2023
Dr. Jackson completed medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He joined our Geriatrics Fellowship following the completion of his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Why Geriatrics: My grandparents were big influences on the person I have become today. This sparked my initial interest in Geriatrics. I feel a responsibility and passion to care for older adults. Geriatrics is unique because it allows me to connect with my patients to formulate a customized plan that focuses on the patient and their needs and not just a diagnosis.
Thoughts for future practice: I plan to stay in the Kansas City area to practice as a primary care geriatrician.
Family: My wife and I have 2 dogs. My immediate family recently moved to KC, while my extended family is spread throughout the country. Family is my biggest support in my life and is what matters most!
Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy being outdoors. My wife and I love exploring various dog parks across the city. My ideal vacation time is spent in the mountains hiking. In my spare time I have been attempting to learn the game of golf.
